5 march 2010: alice in wonderland

Since I have been married to J, I have become more and more a fan of Tim Burton's films. This summer J introduced me to Edward Scissorhands, a movie that I had wanted to watch for some time. Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors, and I think it's really fun when Depp and Burton collaborate. They are both very talented and creative individuals.

That being said, I am especially excited about the new Tim Burton film, Alice in Wonderland. I found out about the movie a few days ago when looking at this webpage on costume design.

Anyhow, the movie is scheduled to come out on March 5, 2010. I'm marking my calendar now. The premise of the show is rather interesting: Alice returns to Wonderland as a teenger and learns that she is destined to put an end to the Red Queen's reign of terror. (It kind of sounds like there is a Narnian/White Witch twist to this plot.) Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter (of course), Helena Bonham Carter plays the Red Queen (of course), and Anne Hathaway plays the White Queen. It looks like lots of fun.

You can see some photos for the film here, and you can watch the offical trailer here. If you're interested, there also is a Wikipedia entry that has more information about the film and plot.

Do you like Tim Burton and/or Johnny Depp? What are your favorite films? So far, I think that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is my favorite Burton/Depp collaboration.

I'm really excited for Alice in Wonderland too. I saw the trailer a couple weeks back and thought it looked pretty great. You know it'll be just a little bit nutsy (as are all things Tim Burton), which I think will make it awesome.

In terms of Depp/Burton, I REALLY wanted to see Sweeney Todd, like REALLY bad. But, I have a rule no R rated films unless it is truly historical or of great importance, so I couldn't justify seeing it. Still, I'll bet it was fantastic. Everything they've done together is awesome. Even Corpse Bride is fantastic and it's just Depp's voice, ya know?

Yeah, I'm sure that this movie will be a bit nutsy, but that's what makes Tim Burton so fun. And I just found out that Alan Rickman is playing The Caterpillar. Ha! That's awesome.

i've been excited for this movie for a while. one of the best things i did in paris was go to an all-night tim burton mini-festival leading up to the premiere of big fish. big fish happens to be my second least favorite burton, but they showed my two favorites, which are edward scissorhands and sleepy hollow.

e: i was really excited for sweeney todd, particularly after our adventure seeing it during that storm in p-town. that production was a lot better than the movie, which ended up being, rather strangely, incredibly boring. an impressive feat for the amount of gore. i was greatly saddened.

My family thinks I'm odd because I really like quirky thinks like Tim Burton films (my family tends to be pretty mainstream with most things). I actually read somewhere a year or so ago that Burton was doing Alice in Wonderland, and have been anticipating the trailer ever since. So, yes I'm excited to see the movie. I think Corpse Bride is my favorite Burton film.

I love Big Fish. I have yet to see the Corpse's Bride, but it looks kind of fun.

(And Zillah, I think you might have confused the two "e"s that comment on my blog. I don't think you know the "e" that commented above. However, I'm sure she will be happy to know that the movie was boring!)

I'm glad that other people are excited for Alice in Wonderland, too. It seems like many of you already heard that this movie was in production. I must be behind the times. :)

Since I can remember I have been deeply inspired and obsessed with Tim Burtons work. I'd have to say a lot of my earlier art works were inspired by him.
AND, I love Johnny Depp. I love him in everything he plays. He especially makes a yummy pirate ;)
I cannot WAIT for this movie.

Ha ha, yes, whether the comment was directed for me or not, I appreciate the input. I'm glad to hear I didn't miss anything by not seeing Sweeney Todd!

I like Burton and Depp a whole bunch. But I don't like Alice in Wonderland. Hmmm. Dont' know if I'll see it.

Zillah-- oh my, I LOVE Sweeney Todd at the castle on Halloween night. One of p-town's greatest events. That night was nuts.
