Is Goodreads that wonderful? Convince me, please.

goodreads?
Fifteen minutes ago, I decided to simplify and organize my life. And I spontaneously decided that my objective could be best accomplished if I immediately started an account on Goodreads. And now, minutes later, I wonder if that was a good idea. It's been nice to throw away the old sticky notes and various scraps of paper on which I've written book recommendations - but do I really need to spend time on another social networking site?

YES, it is!!! I promise. I was probably like you, writing down books I wanted to read all the time, and this is one place to keep track of them all! I'll have to "friend" you. Believe me, it's SO fun to see what your friends are always reading...TOO fun sometimes. :)
I actually really like it because every time I finish a book I put it on there and then - bam, I don't have to worry about it anymore. And then my library patrons come in and ask me what I've read that I liked lately and I log on there and scroll down and find something for them, too. I love having all of that in one place. And you can make it as social as you like, it's not like facebook where that's the whole point.
I don't know if it's that wonderful, but I also like it to keep track of what I want to read. And, like others have said, it's only as social as you make it. I like to see others' tastes in literature, but I rarely make comments on people's reviews. I also like looking at what friends have read and liked when we have similar taste in books.
Now I will go add you as a friend.
I'd never even heard of this before.
Since I know nothing about it, what is it?
I guess I could always go look it up!
I really like it. I don't use it as a social networking site though. The only time I use it is when I need a new book to read. I just look through what my friends have read and loved.
e, Goodreads is a site where you can keep track of the books that you want to read or have read. If you want, you can write reviews for the books that you have read. You also can read/comment on other people's reviews of books. If you want to build a community within the site, you add "friends" in Goodreads (similar to Facebook).
I'm starting to get into the Goodreads thing. It's nice to track my progress in books and also keep track of my reading list.
