Today Sam and I hiked to
Tradition Lake (at Tiger Mountain) with some friends. I've wanted to go on this hike since last summer, when I noticed trail signs for the lake
when we hiked to Talus Rocks. The trail was fairly level and Sam was able to walk for a good portion of the way. The lake looked really pretty through the trees, but it was disappointing to find that the lake is only visable from a distance. The main trail never goes down to the water (although we took a tiny side trail and were able to get fairly close - see photo).
Sam and I also explo

red another side trail (called "Swamp Trail") after we finished the Tradition Lake loop. The trail was nothing spectacular, but it was kind of fun to follow a boardwalk through the swamp. There were also a lot of blackberry (or raspberry?) bushes along the trail - the berries weren't ripe enough for me to tell which kind.
Sam was a good little trooper. He liked marching along the boardwalk and looking at the watery swamp.
These are both fun hikes and easy to do with small kids. It wasn't the most scenic outing, but it was still fun. FYI: Part of the lake trail is exposed (i.e. there aren't many trees for shade). If you go on a nice day, be prepared to get rather hot!

I think we could create our own Friday hike group. That is pretty much the entire way I want to spend my summer. Don't be surprised if you get texts/emails/calls from me to go hiking...often
We love the hiking photos - and love that you and Sam get out to explore the trails.
The berries were likely blackberries, which grow like weeds around here. Love you!
How fun. I would love to go hiking with Grace but she wouldn't last more than 10 minutes. I'd be dragging her the entire way. That and we don't have any mountains. :)
