We didn't walk the full length of the hike, but we got fairly close. The trail has some pretty steady elevation gain that made Sam tired, so we probably walked a little over a mile out and back. We stopped up on the ridge by the glacier, where you could see some pretty amazing views:
Lucy fell asleep on the way up and on the way down. She was pretty cheerful, but I think it was a bit hard for her to look around from the bright glare of the snow.
I let Lucy wear my sunglasses intermittently, so she could have a look around. My round lenses match her round cheeks! She liked to wear them for a few minutes, but then she would start to protest. I'm surprised she preferred the glare over the sunglasses.
Sam had a few complainy moments, but he cheered up when we got up higher and he could really see the peaks of the Tatoosh mountain range. He kept saying, "Look how high we are!" He also liked throwing snowballs and tried to slide down some of the gentle slopes on his stomach. My favorite quote by Sam from the day: "This is ten-thousand percent awesome!"
As we were hiking down the hill, some hazy clouds started to form, which you can see in the last few photos. By the time we got outside of the park, the sky was overcast with gray clouds. I'm glad that we were able to get out and enjoy the blue sky while it lasted!
This is probably our last wintery activity of the season, since spring has been popping up around our home for several weeks. I look forward to coming back to this place sometime in the summer, when the wildflowers are in bloom. I know that Paradise is a popular camping destination, so maybe we will come back to camp when Lucy is a bit older.
